Kayak Tour of Los Cerritos Wetlands
Spend a morning kayaking through the Los Cerritos Wetlands! See our local wetlands from a fresh and exciting perspective
About this event
We are excited to offer our new kayak trips to the Los Cerritos Wetlands! It is an incredible way to view one of the most pristine areas of the wetlands, Steamshovel Slough, with educational commentary from an environmental guide with Tidal Influence.
The kayak trips start between 8:00 – 9:30 AM and will wrap up by 10:00-11:30 AM depending on the date. This time-frame is to ensure the tide is high enough to easily kayak in and out of the Steamshovel Slough area.
The kayak trip will be lead by LA River Expeditions (https://www.lariverexpeditions.org/kayaktours/) who also host kayak trips of the Los Angeles River.
Naturalists from the ecological consulting group, Tidal Influence, will be participating in the kayak the tour and providing environmental educational about the wetlands and Alamitos Bay.
The Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust underwrites a significant portion of the expenses for the tours, and we are asking for a $40 donation per kayaker to help offset the costs of gear rentals and our highly qualified tour guides.
We are requesting donations be made at the time of sign up, and donations are non-refundable. If you can’t attend the trip you are welcome to find someone else to take your spot, or your donation will be used towards the work of protecting and preserving Los Cerritos Wetlands.
Waivers for the Land Trust and LA River Expeditions must be reviewed and signed to participate. You can print out, sign, and bring them with you, or there will be spare copies available on the morning of the event. Please arrive early enough to find parking; metered and street parking is available at Mother’s Beach.
